Pooja and Matt were wed on a spring day at the Burr Mansion in Fairfield, CT.
The couple are college sweethearts who met at Fordham in 2014.
Pooja and Matt wanted to fuse elements of Pooja’s Indian heritage such as using marigolds and strands of jasmine flowers with a more traditional Western wedding flowers such as poppies and tulips.
It was a chilly wet day for the couple and the difficult decision was made to move their ceremony indoors.
We hung garlands of handmade dried flowers from the reception tent ceiling which added a special touch to the tent.
The bridesmaids wore mustard patterned dressed that were custom made in India. The bride and groom both exchanged traditional floral malas made of roses and jasmine
Wanting to fuse traditional indian with springtime the couple chose a soft palette of cream, peach, pale blue with some pops of bright marigold.
Pooja wore a traditional sari in white for the ceremony then switched to a vintage-inspired satin gown for dancing.
Pooja had lost her sister just a few months before the wedding and we tied a patterned blue sash from one of her dresses to the bridal bouquet so she could hold her close that day.
We were able to do a floral preservation for the couple after their wedding day. It included their stationery, some of the ceiling garlands and the most beautiful dried poppies and ranunculus from their bouquets.
